How to Test Your Car's Battery

If an engine is the most necessary component of a car that makes it able to run, the battery should be a close second. Even though a battery is easier to replace, a car cannot start without it. Before you replace your battery, you need to test it.

Wear rubber gloves and goggles to protect yourself from acid. First, turn the car and all the lights off so you don't run the risk of electrocution. Connect the positive and negative voltmeter test leads to their respective terminals and check the state of charge. If it has a 50% or smaller state of charge and voltage of fewer than 12.0 volts, then it's time for you to get a new one.

Does your car need a new battery? If so, then take it to Lute Riley Honda in Richardson, TX where a member of our team can get it replaced as soon as possible.
