The 2016 New York International Auto Show began last week and is currently underway at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. Of the myriad exciting industry announcements, one of our favorites is the introduction of a U.S. spec version of Honda's latest hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, the Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan.
In addition to a sleek and sporty exterior, Clarity Fuel Cell also features a new fuel cell stack that is 33 percent more compact than its predecessor, the Clarity FCX. The 60 percent increase in power density allows for a more spacious five-passenger cabin while still maintaining a U.S. EPA driving range of 300 miles.
With the Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan, Honda continues to prove why it is a leader in connected car technologies. An 8-inch floating Display Audio touchscreen system delivers in-cabin support for both major smartphone connectivity technologies, and integration of app-based services such as streaming audio, voice-controlled search, navigation, and a Hydrogen station locator. The Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety and driver assistance technologies includes Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with emergency braking, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS).
"We're pleased to be able to offer this first look at the U.S. version of the Clarity Fuel Cell sedan in advance of its market arrival later this year," said John Mendel, executive vice president, Automobile Division, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "The Clarity Fuel Cell is the first in an expanding portfolio of advanced electrified vehicles from Honda that will create a new pillar in our product lineup."
The Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan will be on display until April 3.
