These days, the hatchback is king when it comes to sporty looks and cargo space and, finally, there's a hatchback variant coming to the Civic; before its planned worldwide September 29th debut at the 2016 Paris Auto Show, the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback was revealed and we can't take our eyes off it!
Based on the 10th generation of the car, the Civic Hatchback has plans to be sold here in the good ol' U.S. of A and will join both sedan and coupe models in the fall of this year. The Japanese automaker has confirmed that the Civic Hatchback will come in the LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Sport Touring trim levels so you'll have plenty of options on features and function when it arrives stateside. The base engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four hitting 174 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque but, sometime in the future, a sportier engine will be offered in the Si and R-Type models; this is expected to be a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four somewhere around 305 horsepower. For now, only time will tell.
Front-wheel drive will be the only option but drivers will get a choice of either a 6-speed manual or a CTV. Fuel economy numbers as well as cargo space is impressive, and we can't wait to get our hands wrapped around the wheel of one for ourselves! Be sure to stay tuned in to our blog and check our new Honda model selection later this year to be the first to know about its arrival and take it out for a test drive.
