Our favorite Japanese automaker is always on the forefront of technological advancement and, according to two new patents they filed for recently, it's only going to get better and more amazing as time goes on. Both of these technologies are for safety features and they both make use of augmented reality heads-up displays (HUDs) to keep you and those around you away from harm.

The first patents is for pedestrian safety. Using a HUD, the feature would allow you to see multiple pedestrians around your vehicle, even those obstructed from view by objects outside the vehicle, so you'll be ready to stop at any time should one of them walk into the street suddenly. The second patent is for vehicle-to-vehicle communication. The HUD would allow you to see through the car in front of you so you could monitor the one in front of that, preparing for you a sudden stop and giving you advanced warning to prevent an accident.

We're not sure when these technologies will be implemented, or what new Honda models they'll be used in first, but stay tuned to our blog and we'll be sure to keep you updated as time goes on.
