Even the best tires wear out at some point. You don't want your car's tires to wear out prematurely, though. A little DIY tire care could keep things from going wrong. In particular, it becomes necessary to make sure the tires have the right amount of air inside them. Otherwise, the treads could suffer excess wear, the tires could blow out, and other problems may occur.

Checking the air involves first learning the appropriate psi for the tires. After using a tire pressure gauge to learn the tires' present psi level, take the appropriate steps. If it's fine, there's nothing of concern. When the air is too low or over-inflated, add or release air.

Measure the treads periodically, as well. A penny check provides some idea about how much tread remains. Make sure a professional technician checks the tires' condition, too.

At Lute Riley Honda in Richardson, TX, our technicians could perform a routine tire inspection. Ask about tire rotations and replacements when you call.
