2019 Honda Pilot vs 2019 Honda Passport
Serving Richardson, TX
Those in the market for a rugged family SUV that is full of the latest features have two great choices from Honda in 2019. Both the Passport and the Pilot have a lot to offer, but which one is right for you? Those in the market for a two-row SUV will want to consider the Passport, while those needing that third-row seating should check out the Pilot. Let's take a look at the other differences, as well as similarities, between these two crossover SUVs to help determine which one better suits your needs.
Performance
Both of these vehicles share the same powertrain underneath the hood. Drivers of both the 2019 Passport and 2019 Pilot will enjoy the 3.5-liter V-6 engine that provides 280-horsepower as well as 262 lb-ft of torque. Certain trim levels of the Pilot come with a six-speed automatic transmission. The upper trim levels of the Pilot and every model of the Passport uses a nine-speed automatic. All-wheel-drive is an available option on both of these crossover SUVs. You can take the Pilot or the Passport's capabilities to the next level by adding Intelligent Traction Management to all-wheel-drive models. When properly equipped, you can expect to tow up to 5,000 pounds in either one as well.
Appearance
It is evident on first glance that these two SUVs are related to each other. A closer inspection reveals a few differences, however. The Passport is designed to look a tad more athletic than its big brother. It has stylish features such as blacked-out exterior accents, 20" wheels, and a floating roof. The Passport also has higher ground clearance, making it slightly better off-roading option. Those who elect to go with the Pilot will get 18" wheels but have the option of upgrading to 20" ones instead. Despite all of the similarities, each vehicle has a unique front and rear fascia, helping to give them a design style of their own.
Features
Great driver assistance safety features are found on both the 2019 Passport and Pilot. Honda Sensing® comes standard on all trim levels of both vehicles. This system adds innovative safety features such as a Lane Keep Assist System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation, Collision Mitigation Braking System, and Forward Collision Warning. When it comes to entertainment, both of these vehicles have a lot to offer the whole family. Certain trim levels of both the Passport and the Pilot come equipped with an 8" HondaLink® 1 infotainment touchscreen that allows you to control Apple CarPlay™ 2 or Android Auto™ 3. The HondaLink® infotainment system has been revised and is better than ever for 2019. These models also have Wi-Fi capabilities.
