The midsize Honda Pilot SUV continues to be a popular option among drivers in search of a three-row model. The Pilot entered its fourth generation in 2023, and it introduced a few significant changes to the trim lineup for 2025. Specifically, the base LX trim level is removed, and the Black Edition is added. The trim levels are the Sport, EX-L, Touring, TrailSport, Elite, and Black Edition. Many of our customers are interested in the differences between the EX-L and TrailSport trim levels.

Performance

Every 2025 Honda Pilot comes with a V6, 3.5-liter engine. This is a 285-horsepower system that is mated to a 10-speed auto transmission. The EX-L has standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. The TrailSport comes with standard all-wheel drive. It is also equipped with an off-road-tuned suspension with raised ground clearance.

Appearance

You will notice only a few exterior differences between the 2025 Pilot EX-L and the TrailSport. Overall, the Pilot has a tall, almost boxy stance. Its level roof line ensures ample headroom for all three rows in the cabin. Both the flat hood and sides are smooth. The lower door panels are modestly accented. The grille is styled with a stretched, honeycomb-style mesh on the nose. The wide headlights connect to the top of the grille and are underscored by an LED bar. The EX-L comes with 20-inch wheels, heated side mirrors, and a power liftgate. The TrailSport has 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, a power liftgate, heated side mirrors, a glossy black grille, skid plates, a heated windshield, a Class III trailer hitch, and recovery hooks.

The EX-L and the TrailSport are equipped with shared features like heated front seats, a remote ignition, ambient lighting, a 9-inch touch display screen, a tri-zone climate control system, a keyless ignition, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a blind-spot alert, lane departure avoidance, forward collision mitigation, a driver attention warning, a 12-volt outlet, an intercom system, third-row USB ports, leather upholstery, a nine-speaker audio system and others. The TrailSport also comes with second-row captain's chairs, a household outlet in the second row, a surround-view camera, and accent stitching on the seats.
