Imagine walking out to the parking garage or even your driveway only to find that your car is no longer where you left it. You might scratch your head and think that you forgot where you parked it. But after looking for several minutes or a couple of hours, you realize that it's stolen. That's a stomach-turning scenario, but there are precautions that you can take to ensure that this doesn't happen to you.

If you have to park your car on the street at night, park it in a well-lit area to deter would-be thieves. If your car is in a dark location, it's easier for people to break into your vehicle without detection. If it's in a well-lit area, they're more likely to think twice about it.

When you park on the street next to a curb, turn the wheel toward the side of the road. When the tires are turned into the curb, it's more difficult to tow the vehicle.
