2019 Honda CR-V vs 2018 Honda CR-V
Serving Richardson, TX
As one of the top-ranked compact SUVs currently on the road, the Honda CR-V has a whole lot to offer no matter whether you’re looking for comfort, cargo room, or outstanding safety ratings. It is the combination of all of these various factors that helps to explain why so many drivers opt for the CR-V instead of any of the myriad other compact SUV models. Of course, not all Honda CR-V models are the same, which is why we’ll now take a look at both the 2018 and 2019 CR-V models to see what separates the two.
Performance
The fact that the CR-V continues to be one of the top-selling compact SUVs on the U.S. market means there has been very little reason for Honda to make any significant changes to what is already winning formula. As a result, there aren’t many noticeable differences between the 2018 and 2019 models in terms of performance or much anything else. For 2019, Honda continued to use the same engine configurations as those found in the 2018 model. This means those that opt for the LX trim package will have a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine capable of producing 184 horsepower, while those that choose the EX trim level or above will have the slightly smaller, but more powerful turbocharged 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine.
Appearance
Appearance is another area where the 2019 CR-V stays almost the same as the previous year’s version. Nonetheless, there are two notable exceptions. Firstly, Honda switched out one of the white paint options on the 2019 model—replacing the previous White Diamond Pearl with the new, slightly shinier Platinum White Pearl. Also, the 2019 model now only features four trim levels—LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring—compared to five trim options on the 2018 model. What this means is that drivers who wish to take advantage of the in-car navigation system now must choose the Touring package since Honda dropped the EX-L with navigation.
Features
In terms of features, one of the best and most important is the Honda Sensing® suite of advanced safety technology, which is available on the EX, EX-L and Touring editions. With this package, you can take advantage of a range of high-tech features designed to help you avoid potential collisions, such as lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, and lane-departure warning. Both the 2018 and 2019 models also feature an advanced multimedia system including an infotainment center with a touchscreen. Those that choose the EX trim level or above will also receive the benefit of a slightly larger 7-inch touchscreen (compared to the 5-inch touchscreen on the LX) with full support for Android Auto™ ** and Apple CarPlay™ ***.
Ultimately, there isn’t a whole lot to choose between the 2018 and 2019 Honda CR-V models, which means it’s all about finding one with the right package and configuration that suits your budget and needs. For this reason, we’d like to invite you to visit our Honda dealership where you can check out our entire range of CR-V models and other outstanding Honda vehicles.
