2020 Honda Civic vs 2019 Honda Civic

Serving Richardson, TX

Compact sedans might be focused on covering the most miles on the fewest gallons of gas, but this shouldn’t come at the expense of comfort. With the Honda Civic, it definitely doesn’t. Whether choosing the 2019 or 2020 version, buyers can not only expect sedan features like separate quarters for people and things; they can expect some extras. The Civic brings reliability and safety, and an interior that will not feel compact.

Performance

By sticking with what works and perfecting it along the way, Honda has earned a reputation for exceptionally reliable engines. For the Civic, a pair of engine and transmission options are available in both the 2019 and 2020 models starting with a standard 2-liter inline-4 making 158 horsepower. Connected to a CVT, continuously variable transmission, it produces 30 mpg city and 38 mpg highway. This block also links to a 6-speed manual transmission in the 2019 and 2020 Civic Sport model while being optional in the 2019 Civic LX edition. In this configuration, expect 25 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. If a little more kick is needed, a 1.5-liter turbo-4 can conjure 174 horses. In both model years, it’s bound to the CVT and gets 32 mpg city and 42 mpg highway.*

Appearance

On the outside, the 2019 Civic leads with a horizontally split grille and follows with fluid ridges highlighting the hood and sides. This winning design enjoys an encore in the 2020 model. Inside, tight spaces have been banished. In the forward seat row, there are 39.3 inches of overhead leeway accompanied by 42.3 inches. The next row also keeps obstacles out of the way, with 37.1 inches above and 37.4 inches out front for legs. Grabbing a few extra parcels on that shopping trip is also no problem when 15.1 cubic feet of dedicated trunk room is always ready.

Features

Another category where the 2020 Honda Civic holds onto the 2019 model’s successful formula is model features. A 160-watt AM/FM audio system with four speakers, a 5-inch touchscreen sporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, air conditioning, a USB port, a 12-volt outlet, and the Honda Sensing® safety suite might sound like enough. Still, the Civic LX is just the start. Next, the 2019 and 2020 Sport editions both incorporate an extra USB outlet, eight speakers carrying 180-watt sound, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The Civic EX goes further by splitting climate regulation into two zones, placing a moonroof overhead, giving the driver eight automated seat positions, and putting heat in both front seats. Seats dressed in leather are the hallmark of the Civic EX-L, and the Touring model brings in 450 watts to power a 9-speaker music system.

The 2019 Honda Civic got it right with low fuel demands, high marks for safety, and plenty of room and frills. The 2020 Civic maintains a steady course. Drop by our dealership for a test drive, and you’ll be convinced they’re both the right choice.
