What's New for the 2019 Honda Accord?

With the 2019 model year, the best-selling Honda Accord is still new in its tenth generation of production. For this year, Honda strips the top-level Touring of the chance to get the 1.5-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder (I4) engine, which has an output of 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. Now, it's only available with a 2.0-liter turbo I4-powered trim, with an output of 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. This more powerful engine is with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-liter turbo I4 is standard on the other four trims, which, in ascending order, are the LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L. However, you can swap the 1.5-liter with the 2.0-liter on the Sport trim. The Sport gets a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the other trims use a continuously variable transmission.

Although the 2019 Honda Accord seats up to five people with its two rows of seats, the LX and Sport provides 105.6 cubic feet of passenger volume, and the EX, EX-L, and Touring provide 102.7 cubic feet of it. The trunk yields a standard cargo space of 16.7 cubic feet. For comfort and convenience, the midsize sedan provides features such as cruise control, active noise cancellation technology, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth®1 wireless technology for audio streaming and hands-free phone operation, remote keyless entry, push-button engine start, four-speaker audio, AM/FM radio, hands-free texting ability, and a 7-inch widescreen display for infotainment information. Upper-level trim features include leather seating surfaces (instead of cloth), heated front seats, 12-way power adjustability and 4-way power lumbar support on the driver's seat, a 4-way power front-passenger seat, a driver-side memory system, heated rear seats, front-seat ventilating ability, a driver information interface, remote engine start, wireless charging ability, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a garage door opener, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, an eight- or 10-speaker stereo system (in place of the four-speaker) an 8-inch color touchscreen (which replaces the 7-inch), Apple CarPlay™2 and Android Auto™3 for smartphone integration, HondaLink®4 remote car access, HD Radio™ technology, a trial subscription to SiriusXM® satellite radio, and a navigation system.

Standard safety features on the 2019 Accord include a multi-angle rearview camera, electronic vehicle stability control, traction control, auto high beams on the headlights, hill start assist, LED daytime running lamps, an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, eight airbags, a theft-deterrent system that pieces together remote keyless entry with engine immobilization, and the Honda Sensing® suite of driver-assistance technologies (which comprises adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and road departure mitigation). Higher-level trims are more likely to also have a blind spot information system with a cross-traffic monitor.
